Mid-Michigan Pickleball League along with ABP Pickleball have the following Mission:

At MMPL, our mission is to elevate the sport of pickleball by fostering a high-level, semi-professional environment that inspires excellence, sportsmanship, and community engagement. We are dedicated to providing a platform where passionate athletes can showcase their skills, compete at the highest level, and contribute to the growth and recognition of pickleball as a premier sport.

What you need to know

In the fall of 2024, the Mid-Michigan Pickleball League will begin its first season. Each team will consist of four players. Two Men and Two women. The format will be different than many have played or watched before. With standard side out scoring four fifteen minute quarters will be played alternating matchups of men, women, and mixed doubles drawn before the start of the match. The total combined score at the end of an hour long game will be the winner. The first season will consist of 5 weeks of doubleheaders followed by a week 6 championship. The league will have 5 teams playing double headers with plans to expand to 8 teams for the second season. Players must have a DUPR for team assignment purposes. The players with the 5 highest DUPRs with at least 16 games recorded will be assigned a captains position. Captains will select their team from other qualified players that have applied. Not everyone that has applied will be assigned a team.

What we have considered

Your time, we are planning to run double headers so everyone gets ample court time. We also are trying a running total like the Arizona Pickleball League to get you playing each player will play for a full 60 minutes.
Your entertainment. Currently we are slated to play on Sundays! We will have the games on! We will have music playing and a viewing area!
Improving the level of play in our area and Michigan, bringing players together to play with and against different players will increase the overall play in Mid-Michigan.
Availability, teams will be allowed to bring a substitute in the case of a unavailable player, however to protect the integrity of the process the substitute must come from the pool of applicants that were not selected.(i.e. no ringers).

The Court

This will be a single court facility to begin. We are currently funding the project out of passion for the sport of pickleball.
